MOUNTAIN VIEW, CALIF. – October 28, 2008 – Clarizen, a provider of on-demand, online project management software, today announced its integration with Microsoft Outlook, allowing users to create and assign tasks, set task deadlines or update the status of a task directly from their e-mails.  This development builds upon Clarizen’s effort to make project management solutions extremely intuitive and easy to use for everyday professionals.

E-mail has emerged as the primary means of communicating and working within an organization.  Project management tools like Clarizen benefit everyday professionals and project managers who spend a large part of their day on e-mail.  The integration with Microsoft Outlook provides an easier way for busy professionals to create, communicate and track project actions from their e-mail work environment, enabling the organization to concentrate on business decisions instead of project tracking.

By uniting Clarizen and Microsoft Outlook environments, managers do not have to switch from their primary e-mail to a project management system in order to assign new tasks, get project updates or take the time to learn a new project management system.  This capability significantly decreases the resource and time requirements for entering new project activities and for keeping project status current.  In addition, the integration also ensures that no action item slips through the cracks, leading to an increased rate of on-time and on-budget completion of projects.

Highlights of the integration include:

• Clarizen plug-in to Microsoft Outlook – Users need to install a Clarizen plug-in, which creates a Clarizen action item icon in the user’s Microsoft Outlook menu.  In order to create a new task and assign it to a team member, a manager simply creates a new e-mail and clicks on the Clarizen action item icon.  A project name field is created and the manager can select the project for which they want to assign tasks from an auto-populated list by the Clarizen-Outlook integration.
• Creating a task for a user – Once a project is selected, a manager sends an e-mail about the task to the person they are assigning the task to.  Clarizen automatically creates a task within the selected project, assigns it to the person the e-mail was sent to and adds the content of the e-mail as the context for the task.
• User updates via e-mail – Team members are notified via a Clarizen e-mail when they are assigned a new task.  Task status can be updated from within the notification e-mail by team members, which is reflected within Clarizen.  Additionally, Clarizen keeps managers updated on the project status through e-mail notifications.

“Effective project execution cannot be achieved by keeping the project management and work environment separate,” said Avinoam Nowogrodski, CEO and co-founder of Clarizen.  “By integrating the Microsoft Outlook and Clarizen environments, managers and business professionals can easily create and manage tasks and action items within their e-mail system and assign them to specific projects while they are in a meeting or working at their desk.  This integration significantly increases team accountability, keeps everyone on the same page and, as a result, increases the success rate of projects completed on-time and on-budget.”

Clarizen users can now access the Microsoft Outlook integration add-in at no additional cost, while new users are welcome to sign up for a free 30-day Clarizen trial.
