Weather forecast: Nice and CloudyWinning the CODiE award last month for Best Project Management solution was a significant milestone for Clarizen. Less than three years since coming out with our first commercial solution, we have won the gold over incumbent vendors who have been in this space for over 10 years! A company’s age isn’t an indication of their success. Au contraire! Outdated platforms may hinder a company from their ability to ‘sense and respond’ (See latest related CEO Blog) to the frequent changes taking place with web applications being deployed in the enterprise. Salesforce.com, Success Factors, Workday are all great examples of companies who are pure cloud-based solutions reinventing their respective areas for the enterprise. Whereas last year’s CODiE gave high awards to companies with the hybrid model of ‘SaaS+On premise’, the finalists for this year’s Best PM Solution were purely cloud based solutions. The hybrid model has been voted out and SIIA was exactly on target to notice the shift and award those who have embraced the next level of enterprise solution. Special thanks to SIIA for doing their noble work of putting together these great endeavors. But where is Project Management going? What will the 2011 SIIA awards look like? We want to take this opportunity to nominate Clarizen for ‘Best Work Management Solution’ for 2011. We realize this category doesn’t exist yet but SIIA, maybe it’s time to create a category for Work Management since Project Management is naturally evolving into something much richer and robust.
Clarizen Tips & Tricks: iCalendar ShortcutsIt is hard to shed your old tools, we all like using our Calendar tools like Outlook. With the Clarizen iCalendar integration you don't need to replace your calendar, you can view and update your task progress directly from the solution you feel most comfortable with. Subscribing to an iCal feed of your tasks, managed resources tasks and/or projects of interest allows you to view these work items directly within your Outlook or similar calendar. Your tasks will be distributed on your calendar for the full duration of the task itself, thus allowing you to dedicate time to your daily work. To update task progress just double click on the relevant task and click on the “quick update of task progress” link located within the task details. In addition to task reporting, you can also email your task colleagues or managers and view vital work item information. Using the iCal integration is a great way to help organize your work day.
