Issue Life Cycle



  • An issue passes several phases during its life cycle
    • Evaluation phase - During the evaluation phase, an attempt is made to distinguish, reproduce, or assess the issue and its impact.  As a result the issue can be accepted and marked as Opened or marked as Not Reproducible, Duplicated, or Rejected.
    • Resolution phase - Specific work is done to resolve an issue during this phase.  The issue one of two states in this phase: Opened or In Work.  The In Work state is used by employees to signify that they have started doing work to address the issue.
    • Verification phase - The provided solution is verified during this phase.
    • Closed phase - This is the final phase of an issue’s life cycle.  An issue can reach this phase naturally by going through each previous phase in the life cycle or by being Rejected, Deferred,  Not Reproducible, or marked as a Duplicate during any of the previous phases.
  • The Administrator can adjust the workflow of the issue life cycle to suit the needs of his organization by setting various phases of the life cycle to be mandatory (see Issues Management Settings tutorial page).
