Roadmap View – is a unique Clarizen visualization tool to illustrate high level view of a project, its sub-projects and milestones in progress.
The Roadmap is a type of a timeline chart with start and finish dates of the project.
Project milestones are presented on the roadmap in the shape of diamonds. Color and fill level of the diamond shape illustrates schedule status and milestone progress.

According to standard terminology, "A hammock is a group of related tasks aggregated at some summary level, and displayed/reported as a single activity at that summary level.
Once creating sub-tasks under an existing task, it is treated by the system as ahammock."
Clarizen allows users to set manually Start date and Due date of the hammocks. If not manually set, Start and Due dates of the hammock, will be calculated by the application automatically to match earliest start date and latest due date of the sub-tasks.
Duration of the hammock is always calculated automatically based on the maximum Duration required to complete its sub-tasks and cannot be manually changed by the user.

According to standard terminology, "A milestone is a significant event in the project, such as an event restraining future work or marking the completion of a major deliverable or phase."

Work item is a building block of the project’s work plan.
ProjectMilestone and Task are the different types of Work Items.

According to standard terminology "A task is a discrete scheduled component of work performed during the course of a project. A task normally has an estimated Duration,Start Due date as well as Resources. A task can be dependent on other tasks.”
Project manager or other managers may create tasks under any work item they manage in a project.
A task can be further broken down into sub-tasks. In such case, a task becomes a container - hammock.

Super User is a user with unlimited rights in all projects in the organization he/she belongs.

A Reviewer is a person that does not take any active role in the project, rather than supervising and assuring that the right infrastructure is in place for the project to be carried out.

An external user is a person that does not belong to your organization hierarchically, but may participate in your projects.

Clarizen enables you to collaborate with external users and to allocate a certain portion of your project to this user.

You may grant the user any role which enables the user to participate in the project.

External users cannot just see any element of a project, unless they are allocated to a work item.

According to standard terminology, "a Human Resource is a skilled person (specific disciplines either individually or in crews or teams) that is required to carry out a project’s tasks."

In Clarizen, a resource is an actual user in the system. Project manager or any member of the project management team can assign resources to their relevant work item. A resource can be assigned while dedicating only a certain % of their time to that particular work item.

A project manager can create a project pool first, from which resources will be assigned to the project. Otherwise, a resource can be assigned from the global organization pool.

Resource can fulfill following actions:

According to standard terminology, "the project management team consists of members of the project team who are directly involved in the project management activities. A member of such a team can be a functional manager or a work-package manager who is responsible for certain chunks of the project or even to a sub project. Sometimes, especially in matrix organizations, a manager is actually the superior of the resources that are assigned to the tasks".
