Crunchtime at Clarizen!

Despite the economic turmoil, this month has been a very active and rewarding month for Clarizen with the leading IT blog in the world, TechCrunch, publishing one of our best reviews yet. Author, Roi Carthy's, choice of title summarizes well Clarizen's positioning "Project Management for Non-Project Managers" emphasizing that Clarizen embraces the project leader, regardless if they are certified Project Managers or not.

Nowadays, we all carry PM responsibilities and Clarizen's team-centric collaboration solutions serve both the certified and non certified managers by removing much of the administrative aspects of leading the project and ensuring members contribute directly to the master plan. Via our Web 2.0 interface, progress emails, Outlook and CAD add-ins, team members have the choice to work in an environment they feel most comfortable and therefore are able to keep all team members up-to-date real time.
Author Carthy makes a great point about  how traditional solutions' overhead outweigh its benefits:

"The fact remains though that there’s a long way to go before non-project managers can put a hand on their heart and claim that the benefits of using a PM tool outweigh its overhead."   Read More!

Clarizen CODiE Awards 2009 Finalist

Also this month, less than 18 months after launching our first commercial version, we are ecstatic to be named finalists in the most recognized software industry competition, SIIA CODiE Awards, in the Best Project Management category. Keep your fingers crossed as we shoot for the gold medal on May 5 in San Francisco.

Product Updates: Work vs Duration in Clarizen 2.8

Clarizen 2.8 will be made available on March 8, followed by a major release, 3.0, in April, that will include amongst many other features Expense Management.

2.8's star feature is the much anticipated Work vs Duration, which will allow users to assign resources the work required on a task within a designated timeframe. For example, you have a task that requires 4 hours of work but the resource has all week to complete it. Now you can specify the Work, Duration as well as the % of time any given resource is working on that specifc task within the timeframe.

When you add another resource Clarizen divides the work equally between the resources and changes their units/% automatically to reflect that.  Release notes will be made available with a more detailed explanation on how to use this powerful new feature.

Case Study: SaaS Leveraging SaaS - Stone Cobra and Clarizen

“Many people question why, as a SaaS company, we implement an external SaaS program. The ease of use and comprehensive solution that Clarizen provides our company is a true differentiator to other products on the market. The speed and agility of Clarizen, combined with the cost benefit, license flexibility and email functionality is a show stopper for me, game over.”
